Today, July 1, 2013, I have been appointed as Professor in the Department of Biological Information, the Graduate School of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Tokyo Institute of Technology. This is a promotion from the position of Associate Professor in the same department.
I have no doubt in my mind that all of this is not entirely due to my own abilities. I am here today as a result of encounters with many people, including Professor Handa (Professor Emeritus, Tokyo Institute of Technology), Professor Wada (Professor, Osaka University), and Professor Nagata (President, University of Tsukuba), as well as many coincidences that occurred from time to time.
I believe that the fact that a new KAKENHI Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas research project with me as the project leader was adopted a year ago and my appointment as a professor this time were due to the expectations for the unknown part of my potential. I will do my best for research, education, and university administration, and I look forward to your continued support in the future.
