Language Listening and Speaking Self Assessment Tool (alpha version)
This tool will help you improve your listening and speaking skills in foreign languages. Follow the instructions below. This tool only works properly with Google Chrome because it uses the Web Speech API.
Enter any text that you would like to hear or speak in the text area below.
For listening: Click the 'Speech' button to hear the text read aloud. Your device probably has better speech functionality at the OS level, so you may want to use it instead.
For speaking: Click the 'Recording start' button and read the text aloud to record your own speech. Then, click the 'Recording end' button when you want to stop the recording. The speech-recognized text will be displayed and automatically compared to the text you entered. Parts of the speech-recognized text that do not match the original will be highlighted in green. Note: The diff function does not work for some languages.
